Proud to be a Husker!

The horrible events that have transpired for so many years at Penn State have touched the lives of people all around the country.  There are a lot of opinions about what could have and should have been done to stop the evil that occurred because of Sandusky.  My opinion is that if you are of sound integrity you will do the right thing no matter what it costs you.  Some coaches, teachers, administrators and who knows who else put their own careers ahead of the safety and well being of helpless young boys and that is what is so disturbing about this whole ordeal. Some people want to take God out of the schools, the currency, out of our songs and out of our lives.  Is that really what the world needs right now?  "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing".
Since Nebraska was next on Penn State's football schedule, we were drawn into the scandal and the massive media coverage.  What happened next is why I am proud to be a Husker Freak. You may think that I'm just a fan of a college team, but why I am really a Husker Freak is because of what we stand for and how we display it.  The integrity of Ron Brown and Tom Osborne as well as the way that the Husker team and fans handled the struggles in Happy Valley are the heart of why we can all be proud to be Huskers.
Below are some examples of what people are saying about the Huskers after our visit to Happy Valley last week.  This first message is from my Friend Todd.  He says it better than I can.

"All week before the game, I said that I didn't want Nebraska to be in that game. Anybody else, but not us. I thought it was a no-win situation literally and figuratively. After the pregame prayer and some time to reflect on what occurred, I'll admit that I was completely wrong. Nebraska was the right team, the only team, to be on that field with Penn State. The single biggest reason I am a Husker fan is because of men like Ron Brown, Tom Osborne and BrookBerringer...for who they were and what they stood for. Reflecting back on the pregame, Ron Brown was there for a reason and was the best person to stand in the middle of that circle. Never have I been more proud to be a fan of Nebraska.
Go Big Red!!!"

* This article written by Tom Shatel after the game, really speaks to the integrity of Ron Brown and what it means to be a Husker.
* And some of the best testimonies came from the people of Penn State.  This article is something we can all be proud of.
